Roses for Rosh Hashanah is the continuation of a program started in the 1980’s by the Council of B’nai B’rith Houston Lodges.All sales will benefit residents of Seven Acres and The Medallion.Seven Acres & The Medallion volunteers together with volunteers from The Jewish War Veterans Houston Levy Post 574 (JWV) are going to make the community’s New Year bloom, again.Order a dozen roses NOW at https://www.sevenacres.org/roses-for-rosh-hashanah/, to make sure that roses will be delivered on Friday morning, Sept. 11, 2026 * before erev Rosh Hashanah. One dozen Roses purchased for Seven Acres and The Medallion residents will be delivered in vases. Roses purchased for yourself, a loved one or a friend will be wrapped with filler and greenery and available for pickup 12:30 pm to 3 p.m., Friday Sept. 11, 2026 – in the circle driveway in front of Seven Acres opposite the flagpole, 6200 N. Braeswood Blvd.(* Thursday morning Sept. 10, volunteers will sort and prepare the Roses and that evening they will sort the orders.) The deadline to place orders is Monday, Sept. 7, 2026. We usually think of forgiveness as having a clean slate - what’s done is done, but we can move forward. Judaism offers a far more radical idea. Yom Kippur holds the possibility not only of being forgiven for our mistakes, but of transforming what those mistakes mean. Through the counterintuitive power of teshuvah, the past itself can be reinterpreted. We’ll explore how our worst moments don’t necessarily have to remain our greatest regrets, and how Yom Kippur gives us the power to turn failure into something meaningful.

Holocaust Museum Houston is thrilled to host our third annual Latinx Heritage Month – Community Building Day event. As a free day for families and community members, this event celebrates Latinx Heritage Month by uplifting the history and culture of Houston’s Latinx community while highlighting the interconnections between the Jewish and Latinx community. In the spirit of community building, this event brings together Houston’s diverse community as we work together to promote an inclusive and civically engaged society. The event will feature information about local community organizations serving the Jewish and Latinx community, bilingual (English/Spanish) tours of our Holocaust gallery, a 3G survivor talk, family activities, and special performances. We will remember them, our Yizkor service always includes a slideshow of your/our loved ones who are no longer with us. If you have submitted pictures and names in the past, they remain in the slideshow.

A beautiful and moving conclusion to Yom Kippur, we sing, we pray, we remember and redouble our focus on becoming our best selves.

As all are invited to join us on or near the bima (stage), we conclude Yom Kippur with the rituals of light, spices and wine, hoping that our greatest self discoveries of these days linger and inspire our senses. Break Fast to follow.

Sukkot asks us to leave the security of our homes and spend a week living in a temporary one. At first glance, it seems like a strange way to celebrate our relationship with God. But perhaps that’s the point. Sukkot challenges us to rethink the relationship between the physical and the spiritual and to discover how something as tangible as a home, a meal, a roof, or a piece of fruit can become a pathway to faith. We’ll explore what Sukkot teaches about finding God not by escaping the physical world, but by using it to connect to something deeper.
